Designer Malia Thon took the challenge of creating a design of an electric car that is hybrid and green but does not have a restricted capacity or range and does not entail high costs. The result was the e rx concept car.
The e rx is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.
The e rx is more of a green car kit than a full fledged car though it does make adopting the green lifestyle a heck of a lot easier. The designer has basically imagined the e rx as a concept that would be offered with a rentable kit that would be available through car dealerships and even gas stations. Thus, drivers that own an e rx vehicle would be able to get their hands on a range extender as and when they need. This optional kit would include a fuel tank, an exhaust system and a combustion engine fitted inside a compact box which would allow drivers to use the vehicle as a regular gas powered machine when they don’t have the time or resources to recharge its regular electric battery pack.
- It is available in different sizes with respect to its power output and the size of the fuel tank.
- The car concept focuses on a very lightweight and cost-efficient design.
- This is realized by the reduction of fabricated parts.
