The scar that 9/11 left on the entire humankind can never be erased and this is the reason why it is almost impossible to forget this dreadful and chilling incident that happened on September 11, 2001. It shook the entire world with its extreme extent of barbarism. It’s been years since this event but still, the videos of this day give us a chilling feeling.
The video made by a student from her dormitory which was just eight blocks away from the World Trade Center has resurfaced the Internet a while ago and it has gone viral again! It was reported that Caroline and her roommate Megan woke up to a loud sound which they believed to be an explosion.
And hence, Dries started recording the events on her phone from the 32nd-floor room at 200, Water Street when she spotted smoke coming from the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
The chaos and confusion followed immediately after this incident can be very well witnessed in the video. The two girls were utterly confused. But only when the second attack took place at 9:03 AM, these two women realised that they were actually witnessing a terrorist attack.
Dries even spoke to the media when recalling the experience on the chilling day she said,”I just remember feeling, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ That feeling of being so vulnerable was so overwhelming; and so, we ran out of the apartment, took the elevator down to the street, and it was just kind of pandemonium with no one knowing what is happening.”
She never knew this video could be important until recently when she explained why she had put it on the web. She said, “It took kind of ten years for me to understand why this footage is special. People, I think, want to remember the details clearly and to hold onto it because they know how significant it was. Sometimes I think it would have been nice to have not filmed it — to just have run and let time kind of erase all the details and it would have gone a little faster.”
